Welcome to SCOPE!
Standing Committee on Professional Exchange was in the center when International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations was created in 1951. The exchange program started with 8 European countries and has since then expanded to include 90 countries. Through these 60 years 232.000 medical students have exchanged with SCOPE and with more than 9500 students exchanging per year, it is now the largest student-run exchange program in the world.
The main purpose of the SCOPE exchange program is “to promote the cultural understanding and the cooperation among medical students and other health professionals, through international exchanges. SCOPE aims to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world”. It is a quality educational and cultural experience organized entirely by medical students with the help of their medical faculties.
SCOPE offers medical students worldwide an opportunity to experience medicine in another culture and health system, ultimately making them more sensitive to the differences in healthcare across the globe.
